The Ambache is fortunate to have a Board of Directors who are
an incredible source of expertise, advice, ideas, and sheer creative energy.
This page also includes our General Manager, Sue Sharpe.
Sheila Forbes CBE
Sheila Forbes has spent most of her career managing organisational change as a human resources professional in the private sector, where she was Personnel Director of Storehouse plc, and then of Reed Elsevier, UK. She is currently a non executive director of several organisations, and works as an independent consultant on HR and organisational issues, mainly in the arts, voluntary sector and higher education. In 2002 she was awarded the CBE for services to women in the workforce.
Isabelle Gillard
Barbara Hosking CBE
Barbara Hosking is a former Deputy Chairman of Westcountry Television.
Her Whitehall career included service as a Press Officer at 10 Downing
Street, first with Harold Wilson and then, for three years, with Edward
Heath. Later she was Private Secretary in the Cabinet Office to the
Minister responsible for information co-ordination.
She left the Civil Service to become Controller of Information Services
for the Independent Broadcasting Authority. She has served on juries of
the Sony National Radio Awards. In 1985 she was awarded an OBE, and a
CBE in 1999.
Lewis McNaught
Lewis McNaught was formerly Managing Director of Gartmore, a leading
fund management company. He spent 17 years in the City and was Chairman
of the Association of Unit Trusts & Investment Funds between 1997 and
1999.
Lewis now spearheads
ActivPursuits (click to visit), an online magazine of outdoor adventure and exploration.
Paul Meyer
Paul Meyer is the Chief Executive of two medical charities concerned
with supporting The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery
and University College London Hospitals.
For many years he has been Chairman of the Roxwell Music Festival. He
sits on the Advisory Committe of the Unicorn Theatre for Children.
Marilynne Morgan CB
Marilynne Morgan is the Solicitor to the Department for Work and Persions and the Department of Health, and Head of the DWP's Law and Special Policy Group since 1997. She currently chairs the Government Legal Services's sub-group on Recruitment of both qualified lawyers and legal trainees.
Throughout her career she has taken an interest in European law, but like most government lawyers, specialises in Public Law. She has contributed articles to learned journals and has been a contributor to Halsbury's Laws.
Charles Pridgeon
Chris Rendel
Chris has been a Director of the Ambache orchestra for four years. His day
job is in Marketing.
After twenty years in advertising working
with such clients as the Ford Motor Company, the Financial
Times, the Department of Health and the Cabinet Office, he started his own
Marketing and Creative Consultancy the Windmill Partnership (click to visit)
which is now four years old.
He attempts to use his experience on behalf of the Ambache orchestra, which
he greatly enjoys.
David Ryland
David Ryland was for many years a Creative and Board Director of Ogilvy
& Mather, London, one of Britain's largest advertising agencies. He has
written advertising campaigns for clients as divers as Ford and the
Woolwich, Kotex and the Sunday Times.
He has acted as communications consultant for the Red Cross in London
and Geneva. His daughter has two MAs, his wife will soon have one. He
has retained his Bachelor status.
Sue Sharpe
The General Manager, Sue Sharpe, has worked as an Arts administrator for
the last thirteen years, working for such companies as English National
Ballet, English Touring Opera and the Central School of Ballet. She
worked with a film composer before joining the Ambache in Autumn 2000.
